Bordeaux, France

I think visiting Bordeaux added it to my list of places where I could potentially live. It was a historically rich and vibrant place.   Saint Louis-des-Chartrons Church This was the first destination that I stumbled upon as I was on my way to my hostel.  The church is situated in the heart of the Chartrons district, a historic neighborhood known for its antique shops, art galleries, and lively atmosphere. It is huge to look at from the outside. When I was there, there was some kind of vine festival going on.  So, I took a round and realised that all of it was chargeable- and so I moved on. Amusement Park That night in my hostel, I ran into another assistant, a Spanish one! We decided to go explore the city together. So, we went to a nearby festival where there was an amusement park and looked at all the cool rides. The ferris wheel was exquisite! Then, we sat at this really pretty fountain for a bit and decided that we were going to buy something to eat. Pomme d'amou...

Toulouse, France

I started off October 2023 on a pretty exciting note: visiting The 'Pink City' AKA Toulouse.  My journey started as I went to Limoges railway station. I think the railway station is totally cute - a looker! There is also a garden right in front of it, a nice place to sit and read a book or have a meal with a lover or a friend.   Built in 1924-1929, it has a mix of architectural styles. It has intricate stonework, beautiful stained glass windows, and a huge central hall. Taking a train from there, I arrived at Toulouse in the southwest of France. At first glace, I literally fell in love with the city! Toulouse is the "Pink City" due to the rosy hue of its buildings. Plus, my accommodation was centrally placed, so I was in the stark middle of all the fun! The narrow lanes and the beautiful colours of this city make it a marvel to gaze upon. I was blown away just walking from the railway station to my backpacker's hostel! Basilique de Saint-Sernin Since I was living ...

Berlin, Germany

Image
Let me just say this- I have some pretty blue memories attached to Berlin but I am going to write in this space as a way to free myself from their influence. I visited Berlin in October 2023. Since I was accustomed to people speaking French or English all around me, hearing so much German all of a sudden felt alien, almost like I was on a different planet. I had not really heard anyone speaking german as their only language before so it was definitely different.  So, I'll write. Not about the parts that are no longer in my life, but about the place, in general.  One really cool initiative that Berlin and Germany in general has is that they pay for old plastic bottles. This acts as incentive for people to bring back tons of old bottles and- you guessed it- get paid! I really wonder why we still do not have this in France.  The Rotes Rathaus (Red City Hall) The Rotes Rathaus, or the Red City Hall, is this cool historic building in Berlin. It's where the city's government do...
